I’m a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 16 years of experience in mental health, including acute care, outpatient psychiatry, and leadership roles. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, and major life transitions. I also have experience treating more complex psychiatric conditions and believe in looking at the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
I have spent a majority of my training working across the lifespan from childhood to adulthood, and within family systems. I am trained in helping clients with stress and anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, family conflicts, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, and depression. Some of the individuals that I work with are in recovery from eating and substance-related disorders. My clients often face school and work avoidance and may find it difficult to do things they once enjoyed.
Lorraine Barry is a Marriage and Family Therapist with advanced training in family systems. She holds a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University and an Ed.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University. Lorraine is a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and has held leadership roles with NJ-AAMFT and the National Council on Compulsive Gambling. Her clinical work focuses on issues including trauma, couple conflict, family dynamics, grief, parenting, and compulsive gambling, and she is also trained in EMDR therapy for trauma and anxiety.
There comes a time in everyone's life when we need support.
Are you sick and tired of trying to manage this alone? You wake up to another difficult day and wonder how you will cope. Anxiety and dread are becoming your best friends. But they don't have to be. You are here because you are ready for change and I am here because I can help you feel better.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a deep commitment to helping individuals and families thrive. I have extensive experience supporting diverse communities across various mental health settings and take pride in creating safe, compassionate spaces for healing and growth. Known for being a collaborative team member with strong organizational skills, I bring a background in individual and group counseling, community outreach, case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention.
My approach to therapy is holistic, client-centered, and strengths-based, recognizing the connection between mind, body, and spirit in the healing process. I integrate evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and solution-focused strategies, while also encouraging self-care, balance, and personal growth beyond the therapy space. I value cultural responsiveness and view each person through a lens of resilience and possibility.
I’m passionate about empowering others to reach their fullest potential through empathy, connection, and effective, evidence-based support.
