I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with nine years of experience dedicated to assisting adults facing challenges related to depression, anxiety, and stress. My career has allowed me to work across diverse age groups, from children to seniors, in various settings including non-profit organizations, crisis centers, and major hospitals in NYC. In recent years, I have focused passionately on helping adults like you achieve clarity, peace, and resilience in their lives.
I am Trauma Trained Clinician, Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional and graduate of the Immigration Institute. I've worked in the Psychiatric Emergency Rooms and have extensive experience with survivors of trauma, legal advocacy and a cohort of mental/behavioural concerns.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey. I have experience providing individual and group therapy to adults in an array of settings such as Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization Programs, and residential settings. Additionally, I have experience providing therapy to at-risk youth and adolescents through Intensive In-Community work as well as Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization Programs.
A relationship built on trust and empathy is key to healing. I believe in providing a person-centered and non-judgmental therapeutic atmosphere that starts with building rapport. Many parts of our identity contribute to our perceptions and we’ll work together to identify those so you can have a personalized treatment. I believe in a culturally sensitive approach to both assessment and treatment are important.
Jeffrey Ottowitz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) practicing in both New York and New Jersey. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida.
With nearly three decades of experience, he has worked with culturally diverse populations across the East Coast, the Midwest, and Hawai‘i in a wide range of psychotherapeutic and community-based settings. His professional background includes trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, substance use recovery, and supporting individuals and families navigating complex emotional and life transitions.
Jeffrey is particularly attuned to the intersection of emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth, working with clients who are seeking a deeper sense of meaning and alignment in their lives. His work supports both traditional therapeutic goals and integrative approaches such as psychedelic integration and mindfulness-based exploration, always within a safe, grounded, and ethical framework.
I work with children, teens, and young adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure of themselves. I know it can be hard to open up, especially if you’re used to holding things in. I’ve seen how powerful it is when people feel truly heard and supported.
I currently support middle and high school students in a therapeutic school setting and continue to provide in home therapy and family-based therapy; as well as facilitate process groups for adolescents and parent support groups.
I focus on challenges on anxiety, mood changes, trauma, and self-esteem challenges- areas that can deeply impact how someone sees themselves and moves through the world.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish and value creating a culturally responsive and welcoming space. Therapy with me is collaborative — we move at your pace, but we also work toward real growth. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start. We’ll work through it together.
I have the experience of years in the field and I'm open to experience of those who come seeking help.
For many years I have built rapport with and facilitated the progress of youth who are on the spectrum, who have attention disorders, who struggled with emotion regulation, who are mute, who are transgender, and have exhibited self-harming behaviors. Many of my adult clients have had issues with abandonment, attachment, trauma, and self-harm. The goals I have facilitated my clients progression in are myriad. However, one goal most of my clients aspire to attain is self-love.
