My compassionate care approach in supporting individuals in their healing, is informed by the many years of influencing maternal child health on a systematic level.
Hello, my name is Carolann and I am looking forward to working with you! As human beings, we experience peaks and valleys within our lives that may result in various experiences and feelings. When things are going well, we can feel happy, content, thankful, and even elated. When things are not going well, we can feel down, sad, overwhelmed, and alone. We all deserve to live with the most happiness possible within our lives, but life often brings with it enormous unwanted challenges that result in bringing us down. If you are not feeling emotionally/mentally well as you desire, I am here to help you!
I have over 25-years’ experience in the behavioral health field using my various skills within providing individual, family, and couples therapy, clinical case management and clinical supervision. My therapeutic style is eclectic as I adapt my work in therapy sessions according to your needs. "Believing in yourself is a great first step!"
Some of my techniques include DBT, CBT, (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, family dynamics, interpersonal/relational advocacy & therapy, and clinical case management. I am very client centered and desire for you to feel comfortable throughout our time on your therapeutic journey.
For over a decade, I have worked with individuals struggling with a wide range of difficulties and acuity, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and personality disorders. I work particularly well with clients struggling with worry, anxiety, anger, and shame. I prioritize creating a warm, non-judgmental space where my clients can increase awareness of their emotional and relational patterns, including how difficulties relate to our larger context.
I could list all my accomplishments from the past 30 years, but that wouldn't give you a true sense of my style or beliefs. I strive to empathize, be respectful, and remain non judgemental. We all face worries, stresses, and challenges daily, and we all need someone who listens and understands. While family and friends can provide wonderful support, talking to someone with professional expertise and an outside perspective can be incredibly beneficial.
We will work to identify your inner strengths and resources that will aid you in self-discovery and growth. I utilize mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches to further a client's journey towards positive change. I focus on creating a trusting client-therapist relationship by providing a safe, supportive and encouraging space to help facilitate self-discovery and enduring change.
I graduated with a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in 2010. I have been licensed as an LMHC in the state of MA since 2014. Over the years I have worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults as well as provided supervision to unlicensed clinicians. My current focus is on providing individual counseling to adult clients with anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, relationship difficulties including strained family dynamics, as well as stressful life transitions.
No matter how hard we try in life, inevitably we come across unpredictable waters. Sometimes riding the waves of life can be delightful and sometimes it can be soul crushing.
Thus, I seek to help high functioning adults "embrace uncertainty and live joyfully through the process."
As a fully licensed therapist (LMFT), I aspire to empower others by using a variety of evidence therapeutic interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family System Theory, and Psychodynamics.
