I am a fat and queer therapist who understands the importance of showing up as your whole self. At Whole and True, LLC, I create a space where all of your parts are welcome: the messy, the resilient, the grieving, the curious, and the joyful. My work focuses on supporting LGBTQ+ folks who are navigating eating disorders, trauma, OCD, and anxiety. I believe therapy works best when it is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and connection.
I’m a therapist with nearly 30 years of experience working with adolescents and adults, including a long career as a high school teacher and counselor. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies, a Master’s in Religious Studies from Gonzaga University, and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Regis University.
I specialize in working with adolescent and adult men, particularly around issues like anger, relationships, self-esteem, identity, and life transitions. My background gives me a deep understanding of the unique pressures men face, and I offer a grounded, compassionate space to explore those challenges.
As a father of four young adults, I also bring a personal understanding of parenting, growth, and the evolving nature of family relationships.
As a graduate of the University of Southern California and an active-duty Navy Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and families around the world including children, teens, spouses, GS employees, retirees, and active-duty service members.
In our work together, my intention is to hold a space in which you can begin to relate to yourself with a sense of curiosity and gentleness. This includes growing the capacity to be with your internal experience, as it is, without the need to numb or distract in ways that may have become destructive. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself is integral to the healing that takes place in therapy.
I am a doctoral-level Licensed Couple and Family therapist in Colorado. I speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. I provide therapy for individuals, couples, and families. If you are experiencing any mental health concerns or relational distress, I am here to help you and your loved one(s). I provide affirmative care for LGBTQ+ and ethnic/racial minority clients. I believe that our quality of life depends on the quality of our relationships.
I have been working with families for over 20 years and have extensive training in trauma-focused modalities. My background is in education and mental health, having professional experience as an educator, school counselor, and therapist. I enjoy working with couples, families and individuals, ages 12 and up. I have a Masters Degree in both Education and Marriage and Family Therapy. Some areas of expertise are: couples therapy, relationship issues, parenting, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD.
